Siasia’s wife loses belt to Lagos mob
Headlines Tuesday, September 27th, 2011HEAD Coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia, was mobbed by a number of soccer fans on Sunday after the Federation Cup final at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Some overzealous fans, in an attempt to have handshake with the former international on his way to board his car out of the stadium alongside his wife caused a commotion in the process.
According to one of his media relations managers, print, Segun Ogunjimi, his timely intervention saved the situation.
“In fact, I quickly realised that it would be difficult for him to get into his car with the number of people who held him hostage already in the name of appreciating him. Even the belt his wife put on was taken by the boys. I had to shield those boys before Siasia and his wife could get into the car,” the massively built Sports journalist told Tribunesports.
He stated that the mission of the fans was just to come in contact with the man who coached the Dream Team IV to win a silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
“This is not the first time he was mobbed and I told him (Siasia) that the kind of freedom he thought he had here in Lagos is not so again. I thank God that the situation could be managed because he was almost embarrassed with his wife,” Ogunjimi, while recalling the chaotic scene added.
