Soccer: Niger draw good for Eagles – Nwosu
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Friday, August 17th, 2012EX-Nigeria international, Henry Nwosu, has told SuperSport.com that he is satisfied with the outcome of the friendly game between the Super Eagles and the Mena of Niger Republic.
The game between both sides ended goalless at the Stade General Seyni Kountche in Niamey on Wednesday.
“In my opinion I don’t think it is a bad result especially knowing that it is a friendly match. Yes some people might say ‘how can we draw
against Niger Republic?’ But that’s football so I will say it’s okay and good exposure for the team.
“Playing against Niger Republic is also good for the team since they are preparing to face another African team (Liberia) in the Nations Cup qualifier. In friendly games you don’t expect to always win because they are only meant to see untested or new players,” Nwosu told SuperSport.com.
Nwosu also made a case for Stephen Keshi’s team.
He believes that Keshi and his team need time to become a “formidable squad.”
“Great teams are never built in a short period, no matter how good the players are, he remarked.
