Two suspected Boko Haram members were on Wednesday shot dead by soldier while attempting to gun down a tea seller in Zannari, Maiduguri.
The Borno State Police Commissioner, Mr Simeon Midenda, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri that the incident happened in the evening.
Midenda said the suspects had gone to the area in search of their target before the alarm was raised by the people.
He said, “They had gone to kill a tea seller but the people were alerted while they were asking questions. In the process a patrol team of the Joint Task Force was alerted, leading to a crossfire.”
Midenda added that an AK-47 rifle belonging to the suspects and two magazines were recovered.
He said the bodies of the militants had been deposited at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
