Spain declares state of emergency, puts entire population of 46 million on lockdown to check spread of Corona Virus
Africa & World Politics, Headlines Sunday, March 15th, 2020Written by New Nigerian Politics- Spain is now the second country to lockdown its entire population of 46 million to check the spread of the Coronavirus following the declaration of a two-weeks state of emergency. The wife of the Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has tested positive for the virus as are two ministers, minister for equality and region affairs. This following the actions of neighbouring Italy which has all 60 million on lockdown. Italy has been the worst hit country besides China with 15,113 cases of infection and 1,016 deaths. While France has not declared a state of emergency, most of the tourist attractions such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the cafes and restaurants have all been ordered closed. Thus far, 163,473 people have been infected around the world with over 6,086 deaths.wp_posts
