A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State capital, has ordered that the two suspected killers of the former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Albert Ilemobade, Yemi Bamitale and Daniel Ita, be remanded in prison.

 The two accused, who were facing a five-count charge of murder and robbery, have reportedly confessed to the killing of the university don whose decomposed body was discovered in a store in his residence after a week.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Isah Atengbe, told the court that investigation revealed that the two accused conspired to commit murder by killing their boss on June 21 by strangulating him in his Ijapo Estate residence, Akure.

The prosecutor noted that the offence is punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal Code Cap.37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The prosecutor, however, sought from the court that the two accused should be remanded in prison custody until the outcome of the legal advice from office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered that the accused be remanded in Olokuta Medium Prison until the court resumes for further hearing on September 18.
