The Eagles who will make Nigeria proud

Yes, yours sincerely calls them the “gladiators”; because one is sure they will stretch every muscle, they will contest for every ball, they will run on the field for all of ninety minutes, fighting very hard for Nigeria, during the World cup competition. They will certainly make their shirts wet, very wet, as they play against their opponents! They will certainly do their utmost best for Nigeria! They will leave no stone unturned during the course of their preparations! They will give it their all; and at the end of the World cup competition, please God, they will become our heroes; our ultimate heroes!!!!! Please God, the above expectations will surely come to pass for our dear Super Eagles of Nigeria, “Iseeeeeehhh”!!!!!

Who are these “gladiators” who will fight so hard for Nigeria at the Russia 2018 World cup? They are already known to soccer-loving Nigerians and all fans of the Super Eagles. But for reasons of wanting to encourage and honour them, yours sincerely will go down the list once more:

THE GOALKEEPERS:

Francis Uzoho: He is likely to be number 1, in Russia. He has certainly cut his teeth for the big one, and is ready for Russia 2018 World cup competition.
Ikechukwu Ezenwa: will certainly be a trust worthy deputy, as number 2 keeper.
Daniel Akpeyi: will most likely be number 3 keeper. He has certainly worked hard to shake off the weak performances of 2017, to earn the trust of the technical crew, to be in the world cup team.

E DEFENDERS:

Shehu Abdullahi, alias “Man O’ War “: He will certainly give the left wingers of the opposing teams a hell of a fight. His doggedness as a defender is the reason yours sincerely gave him this nickname.
Tyronne” the dream” Ebuehi: Will certainly dazzle the opponents with his quintessential overlapping runs down the right flank. A natural right back!
Bryan Idowu: Appears to have taken over the left back, as first choice defender. A beauty to watch any day. A polyvalent player!
“The recalcitrant” Elderson Echiejile: This will most likely be his last World cup. Even as second choice, will certainly give his best for Nigeria, when called upon to do so.
William Troost-Ekong, alias “Rock of Gibralter”, has definitely grown in stature as the new Super Eagles’ defence chief. The world cup will afford him the opportunity to confirm this new status!
“Commander General” Leon Balogun, will be expected to give further muscle to the defence, like a true “commander-general”!
“Field marshall” Kenneth Omeruo, though no more a first choice defender, will certainly make his impact felt whenever he is called upon to play.
Chidozie Awaziem, has grown to be a dependable defender for the Super Eagles, in the relatively short time he has been part of the Super Eagles’ set up.

THE MID-FIELDERS:

The tactically erudite Skipper John Obi Mikel, will no doubt give the Super Eagles one last virtuoso performance at the World cup, before most likely calling it a day at the international level. A huge influence in the team any day!
Joel Obi, the ‘lost son’ in the mid-field ,who was rediscovered by Coach Rohr. I have no doubt in my mind that he will rise up to the occasion at the World cup. He is certainly one of the leaders in mid-field, who will take over from Skipper Mikel Obi, whenever he retires.
Etebo Oghenekaro, alias “Turbo Engine”, will certainly be buoyed by his successful transfer to the English league, and will certainly show his class!
Wilfred Ndidi, alias the “baggy bagger”: certainly one of the best defensive mid-fielders of the premiership in the last season! Has certainly grown in stature, since joining the premiership. An indefatigable player, which is the reason yours sincerely has given him his nick name!
Ogenyi Onazi, alias” the angry wasp, who chases his opponents to hell”, has come under severe criticisms, because of less-than-good performances, in recent matches. Yours sincerely, nevertheless, believes in him. He will certainly bounce back. He is a tested war horse!
John Ogu, has now gotten his day in the sun in the Super Eagles, thanks to improved performances and Coach Rohr. Will certainly play a huge role for Nigeria, either in the mid-field or defence.

THE ATTACKERS:

The silvery, silky, flower-skilled, magnificent and ubiquitous Victor Moses, will certainly lead the offensive assault. On a good day, he can set the opponent’s defence on ‘fire’!
The supersonic jet-heeled Ahmed “Mansa” Musa, has certainly rediscoverd his old form, just in time before the World cup!
The highly predacious Kelechi Iheanacho, will certainly exhibit his predatory instincts, and bang in the vital goals!
Odion Ighalo, alias “Top 9”, will finally have the opportunity to show the stuff he is made of at the highest level!
Alex Iwobi, alias the ‘dancing krekel’, will no doubt exhibit his quintessential skills. A fine player!!!!!!
Simeon ‘Simmy’ Okonkwo, who ‘gate-crashed’ the world cup party, will certainly do well. The coach must have seen something special in him, to have included him in the World cup team, at the last minute!

In conclusion, the Super Eagles with a world class coach, a fantastic coaching crew, a near- perfect functional NFF, a supportive federal government and of course the very supportive Nigerian public and their numerous other fans, and as usual with the blessings of the Almighty God, have got what it takes to succeed in Russia.

Please God, success will certainly come their way!!!!!
