The groundswell of support for embattled Nigerian-born pastor of Ukraine’s mega church, Embassy of God, has transversed the vast spectrum of denominational segregation as many Christian leaders around the world have been mounting pressure on the Ukrainian government to cease its reckless persecution of Pastor Sunday Adelaja, accused of collaborating with church members to defraud Ukrainians through the capital investment outfit, King’s Capital.

A source close to the Redeemed Christian Church of God North American headquarters in Greenville,Texas revealed to New Nigerian Politics earlier today that Pastor James Fadele, Chairman of the North American parishes, has written to U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, urging the American government to intervene on behalf of the embattled man of God who has proclaimed his innocence and denied any dealings or connection with King’s Capital. The source noted that the cleric is gravely perturbed by the prospects of frivolous charges brought against Pastor Adelaja and wants the former Soviet communist enclave to respect Pastor Adelaja’s human rights.

It will be recalled that the Ukrainian police invited the famous pastor for an interview on Tuesday and was expected to effect his arrest, but instead, turned him away upon arrival on the excuse that the charges against him have not been finalized. They, however, seized his assets, including his home, bank accounts and cars.

The Nigerian-born pastor heads the largest church in Europe and is seen as one of the most respected and influential figures in Ukraine. Many believe that the impending charges are politically and racially motivated and aimed at sidelining the pastor whose influence, New Nigerian Politics was reliably informed, has penetrated the highest levels of the Ukrainian government.

The Ukrainian ambassador in Washington DC,Olexander Motsyk, could not be reached for comments when New Nigerian Politics contacted his office shortly before press time at about 4 p.m EST.
