Trump to sign executive order to temporarily suspend immigration to the U.S.
Africa & World Politics, American Politics, NNP News Tuesday, April 21st, 2020(New Nigerian Politics) President Trump on Monday announced through his Twitter feed that the United States will temporarily suspend immigration due to coronavirus that has thus far claimed over 42,000 Americans. The president noted that Americans would need to recover and find jobs, in essence inferring that this is not a time to bring in new immigrants to compete for jobs with Americans. He tweeted – “In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!” It will be recalled that Trump has some countries, including Nigeria, Sudan and Tanzania from the African continent on a revised list of travel restriction. Last month, both U.S. and Canada agreed to restrict movement across their borders, the longest unmilitarized border in the world. The U.S. currently has the largest known number of deaths and the largest number of infested at near 800,000.
