USA: Mexico whitewash Super Eagles 4-0 in international friendly

(NNP) Nigerian Super Eagles yesterday, July 3rd, suffered a devastating 4-0 loss to Mexico in an international friendly played in Los Angeles, USA. Goals from the Mexican side came very quickly in the 2nd and 4th minutes in the first half with two more coming in the 52nd and 78th minutes to seal the fate of the Nigerians. Rohr, the Super Eagles coach, mostly called up fringe players in the domestic league for this match with the regular players who ply their trade in Europe’s most prestigious leagues all on holidays. Mexico which is to compete in the Gold Cup beginning July 10, used the friendly as their final tune-up match. The Nigerian side on the other hand used the match to scout new talents for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2022 qualifiers. Last month, the Nigerian side lost 1-0 and tied 0-0 in a two-match friendly fixture with Cameroon.
