(NNP) A Ghanaian pastor in the US state of Florida has been arrested for shooting his wife to death. Thirty-five year-old Pastor Sylvester Ofori who presided over the Floodgates of Heaven Church was said to have trailed his wife to her place of work at the Navy Federal Credit Union in the city of Orlando and fired several shots at her. Video surveillance revealed that after his wife, twenty-seven year-old Barbara Tommey, fell to the ground, the pastor stood over her body and in what appeared to be for good measure, pumped several bullets into her head. His deadly action came just two days to their fifth wedding anniversary. The couple married in 2015.

While it is still unclear what prompted the self-styled prophet to engage in such heinous act, police authorities have stated that Ofori and his wife were in the midst of divorce proceedings. Public records indicate that Ofori has been arrested before, in 2016, for resisting arrest after police were called to their residence following a dispute between the couple.

In what may have foretold the tragedy, Ofori posted a subtle message on Facebook a day before to provide a hint on his impending mission.  The post stated, “One thing ppl gotta understand about extremely kind, nice, loving people is that their other side is just as EXTREME.”

Members of Ofori’s church have been in immense shock over the news.  A member stated to the media, “We are all devastated. I have no words. I’m just devastated.” The member further stated,  “I’m at a loss for words right now. I can’t even think about it,” she said, remembering the pastor’s wife as “a very beautiful person, inside and out.”

In the meantime, the bio of the pastor on the church’s website stood in stark contrast to his alleged act. The pastor, born in Accra, Ghana was described as  “a powerful internationally known prophet of the Most High God.” The bio further stated, “Through the awesome power of the Lord working through him the sick are healed, the demon possessed are delivered, witchcraft schemes are exposed and nullified, the lame walk, the blind see, and the broken are made whole; these are some of the many miracles that are repeatedly manifested throughout this ministry.”

Detectives arrested Ofori at an apartment he once shared with his wife. He is accused of first degree murder which carries the death penalty in Florida upon conviction.

The man in the white shirt who appears to be related to the pastor’s wife came to her defense in an argument and took the opportunity to rough up the pastor. The pastor with his ego diminished, threatens on video to kill his wife as he lives the apartment.

The pastor in better days!
