We’re ready to prosecute looters – Justice Ministry (What are you waiting for – the country is filled with looters)

The Ministry of Justice said yesterday it was ready to prosecute anybody indicted by agencies of government for looting public funds.

The Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Yola,‎ told State House correspondents shortly after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari on the ministry’s activities in Abuja that the job starts when agencies found the individuals wanting and make their findings available to it. He said so far, no such indicting report had been received by the ministry.

Yola said: “If the ministry receives investigations concluded by the responsible agencies, we will play our part. We will play our part with the prosecution of whoever has been found wanting and the security agencies have concluded investigation on that. At the moment, the ministry is not in receipt of any report concerning that.”

Yola said he briefed the President on how the ministry had been maintaining the Rule of Law.

According to him, Buhari was given details of the ministry’s operations from 2011 till date.

Yola said he also pledged to continue cooperating with Buhari to ensure that all the promises he made during the campaigns concerning the Rule of Law are achieved.

Also at the Presidential Villa yesterday was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Abdulkadir Musa, who said his briefing with Buhari centered on jobs creation.

Musa said the present administration will do everything to attract more investments and encourage businesses.

He said the President has given the mandate for the ministry to engage in talks with people who will assist in driving the agenda.
