West Brom Saved My Career – Odemwingie
Headlines, Soccer, Sports Friday, February 11th, 2011
SUPER Eagles and West Bromwich Albion top striker, Osaze Odemwingie, says landing a deal in the English Premiership last summer is the biggest thing in his career after a disappointing outing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Odemwingie is West Brom’s highest scorer on nine goals and the striker explained that the option he took to play for the struggling English Premiership side is yielding dividends.
”It was a good move, I am enjoying my spells in England and I recall that many of my fans in Nigeria advised me to go to England where they think my talent will blosom .
”When you score a lot of goals for your team, then you are proud of what you have done. However, I still feel I can do more for the team by scoring more goals.”
Odemwingie was brought to West Brom on the recommendation of Roberto di Matteo but the Italian has been sacked and former Fulham and Liverpool’s team coach, Roy Hodgson employed to take over the Baggies.
However, Odemwingie sees no difference.
Roberto has done its best for the team but I have no power to say who to coach the team. Hodgson too is a top coach but the most important thing is that I get the support of my teammates always. They look up to me and give me the needed assists.’’
