Why Senate Leader Failed to Clinch Return Ticket

One of the pressure groups sympathetic to the second term bid of Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State, The Pathfinders, has attributed the failure of the Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, to clinch the Peoples Democratic Party’s ticket to return to the Senate to his alleged non-performance.

He was also accused of romancing with some chieftains of the Action Congress of Nigeria, with a view of getting the party’s governorship ticket while still seeking the Senate ticket.
Teslim lost the PDP ticket of the Oyo Central Senatorial District to Jumoke, daughter of a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide.

A statement by the group’s Secretary-General, Mr. Biodun Taiwo, made available to our correspondent in Ibadan on Saturday, claimed that the Senate Leader incurred the wrath of the majority of PDP members in the state when they learnt that he was having clandestine discussions with ACN chieftains.

This divided interest, Taiwo claimed, made Folarin lose relevance in the PDP.

He added that the romance with the ACN apparently to weaken the PDP was viewed by the party members and leaders as anti-party activity which provided the foundation for his failure to clinch the PDP’s ticket.

He also challenged Folarin to publish his achievements since he has been representing the people of the zone.wp_posts
