Why we slowed down on certain corruption cases -EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Tuesday, explained why it slowed down on certain corruption cases, stating that it is maintaining its neutrality and integrity, particularly towards the electoral process.
The commission spokesperson, Mr Femi Babafemi, said this while reacting to an advertorial entitled, “Jonathan Camp Goes For Broke, Co-opts Farida Waziri, Others” and published in several national dailies on Tuesday, stating that the commission should be counted out of politics.
According to him, “The advertorial signed by a faceless organisation, Coalition for Good Governance, alleged that the EFCC is being used to provide dossier on state governors for purposes of blackmailing them to support President Goodluck Jonathan’s election bid.
“The commission wishes to state that there is no iota of truth in this allegation as such exists only in the imagination of those behind this fabrication.
“We wish to restate that neither the chairman, Mrs. Farida Waziri, nor the commission is under any pressure from the presidency or any other quarters to do any hatchet job in favour of any candidate in the forthcoming elections as insinuated in the publication.”
