WTO: Buhari, Okonjo-Iweala meet in Aso Rock
Africa & World Politics, Muhammadu Buhari (1983-85, 2015 - 2023), Presidency, Women Politics Monday, October 12th, 2020The President Muhammadu Buhari and former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, are currently meeting at the State House Abuja.
Okonjo-Iweala, who is one of the two remaining contenders for the office of Director-General of the World Trade Organisation, was accompanied to the meeting by Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo; Minister of State, Industry Trade and Investment, Maryam Katagun; and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Zubair Dada.
Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s candidate for the position of the WTO director-general, was selected as one of the two female candidates to proceed to the final stage in the race for the Geneva-based global trade body’s topmost seat.
Her only challenger in a race that started with eight contenders is South Korea’s Ms. Yoo Myung-hee.
