Yar’Adua’s younger brother joins CPC
Latest Politics Tuesday, January 25th, 2011Late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s younger brother, Colonel Abdul’aziz (rtd), on Tuesday, formally joined the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in katsina.
Abdul’aziz in company with his elder sister, Hajia Mairo Tafida, and other supporters picked up his party membership card at the Kangiwa ward office of the CPC beside the emir’s palace in the state capital.
Speaking to newsmen shortly before registering, Col. Abdul’aziz explained that, after consultations, he decided to join the party because he shared the same belief with the CPC manifesto.
The late president’s younger brother, who noted that he was not in the party to contest any elective position, said his aim was to be a party man and part of those who would serve the interest of the nation.
On his relationship with the incumbent governor, he posited that he had no problem with him, but rather his constitutional and democratic right to choose which party shares his belief and principles.
“I have no problems with the governor. May be what you are hearing are insinuations from some quarters; he is my elder brother and I respect him as my governor,” he maintained.
