2015: I’ll defeat Jonathan if APC gives me ticket –Kwankwaso
Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has assured Nigerians that if given the presidential ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC), he will defeat President Goodluck Jonathan in the forthcoming 2015 presidential election.
Kwankwaso spoke in Kano on Saturday, saying coincidentally, both himself and President Goodluck Jonathan picked their forms from their respective parties on the same day, October 28, 2014. That, he said, was symbolical of the prospect of both of them meeting to slug it out in the general elections.
His words: “I don’t know why me and Jonathan collected our forms on the same day… The indication is that maybe, me and him are going to slug it out in 2015 and once that happens, I am sure you know the answer, that he is going to lose. He would lose completely.”
He argued that given the president’s current rating, majority of Nigerians are very unhappy with the maladministration and bad governance in the country.
Kwankwaso argued that the masses of Nigerians, irrespective of ethnicity and religion, are already tired of the present occupants of the Presidency and are waiting breathlessly to bring about change by flushing them out.
He reflected that the dependence of the PDP and the present power holders on divisive sentiment as a way to electoral victory, would surely not fly in the 2015 presidential elections.
Kwankwaso urged the Independent National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (INEC) to be an unbiased umpire in the 2015 elections, stressing that the opposition would monitor keenly the exercise to ensure that no foul play is allowed.
The APC chieftain is also very unhappy with the withdrawal of the security details of the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal by the police authorities following his defection to the APC.
He observed: “Some of these our friends in Abuja are shameless. Anytime they have defection from any party to their party, they celebrate it. But anytime we have defection from their party to any other party, they take it as a fight and I don’t think that double standards is good for them, I don’t think it is good for democracy or for this country.”
Kwankwaso expressed huge displeasure over the continued reign of insurgency in Nigeria, and the attendant loss of lives and property. He declared that if elected as the President of Nigeria, he would summon the needed political will to end the reign of insurgency and give Nigerians succor.
