Nigerians in Italy caution on April polls
Elections 2011 Thursday, March 24th, 2011AHEAD of the April polls, Nigerians in Italy have cautioned against violence during the exercise.
They also stressed the need for the citizens to use the polls to build a new Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the Nigerian community, the General Secretary of Nigeria Union in Milan, Mr. Ezenwa Nwokoro, called on the electorate to be critical in their choice by insisting that people with the right credentials and proven ability were voted for.
He told The Guardian that Nigerians in the Diaspora wanted men and women of vision and value to lead the nation. “As we are about to elect new leaders, Nigerians should be very, very serious this time by examining those who want to lead us. We should know their vision on how they want to move the country forward.
“If we find anyone that is better than the other, we should support the person, knowing well that we have no other option but to build Nigeria together in order to move ahead as one people and one nation,” Nwokoro said.
According to him, “this is the time for Nigerians to realise that attaining great heights is only possible through our hearts and the works of our hands.”
