Charles Okah
After a gruesome trial that lasted several hours, a Federal High Court Tuesday fixed February 25, 2011 to decide whether or not to quash the treason and terrorism charges brought against Charles Okah and three others for alleged complicity in the bomb blasts that occurred in Abuja on October 1, 2010. The Federal Government had filed two separate charges against the accused persons namely: Charles Tombora Okah; Obi Nwabueze; Edmund Ebiware and Tiemkemfa Francis Osvwo, aka General Gbokos.
All the suspects filed separate applications through their counsel, asking the court to quash the charges against them for want of jurisdiction. The suspects are facing two separate charges. An eight count-charge was filed against them with respect to the Abuja bomb blasts, while one count charge of 22 paragraphs was filed with regard to the explosion at a post amnesty seminar organised by Vanguard Newspapers in Delta State where governors of Delta, Edo and Imo were in attendance.
