Dangote donated N524.7m in one month
Headlines Sunday, September 25th, 2011President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has made a donation of N524.7 million cash and millions of naira worth of relief materials to the needy within the last one month.
The states that have benefited from the billionaire’s largesse include Bauchi, Gombe, Kaduna, Oyo and Lagos states.
In this regard, the Bauchi State governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has commended Alhaji Dangote for identifying with the people.
He said the Dangote group had spent billions of naira in humanitarian service in Nigeria and across the world and should be lauded by the Federal Government.
He urged families who got Dangote’s N100,000 to use it judiciously and not spend it on marrying more wives.
“This gesture by Dangote is not the first of its kind, he did the same in 2010 in Plateau State,” the governor said.
Also commenting on the donation of N60 million to the Oyo State Government, the governor of the state, Senator Isiaka Ajimobi, described Dangote as a rare Nigerian that should be emulated by other wealthy Nigerians.
He stated that the humility and sincerity of the entrepreneur was beyond measure and the fact that he came personally to Ibadan to assess the state of damage and even assure the state government of support in terms of employment generation was an act that would not be forgotten in a hurry.
Again, in Lagos State last week, Governor Raji Fashola said Dangote had only called him three times since he became governor, and in all the three occasions, it had been Dangote offering to do something positive for the state.
