(NNP) The West African nation of Ivory Coast has sentenced an ex rebel leader and candidate in the upcoming October presidential elections, Guillaume Soro, to 20 years in prison. Soro who is exiled in Europe was sentenced in absentia. Soro, a former prime minister from 2007 to 2012, was charged with embezzlement in a trial his lawyers have dismissed as sham and falling well below constitutional standards.
