JAMB contests restraining order on 2011 exams
Headlines Thursday, January 27th, 2011The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board, JAMB, yesterday, asked a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos to vacate the order restraining the board from registering candidates for the 2011 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
It will be recalled that the court had on October 26, 2010 restrained JAMB from securing or retaining the services of Sidmach Technologies Ltd. and Electronic Test Company Ltd., or any other company, for the registration of its candidates for 2011 UTME.
Trial judge in the matter is Justice Okechukwu Okeke.
JAMB is arguing in the application that plaintiffs in the in the matter, SW Global Ltd, Fleet Technologies Ltd and Global Portal Services Ltd., obtained the order by concealing, suppressing and misrepresenting the facts of the matter.
JAMB is further claiming that the application for the interim order, with which the order was secured was an abuse of the process of the court, adding that it was an illegal act.
At the resumed hearing in the matter, yesterday, parties could not agree on which application to be heard first.
After argument by counsel, the court adjourned till February 16, to rule on the order of applications to be taken.
The aggrieved companies had sued jointly as members of the Converged Examinations Management Technology Platform Consortium, CEMPT, Consortium.wp_posts
