Osaze: Siasia should act like a father – Owoblow

The non inclusion of West Bromwich Albion striker, Peter Odemwingie in the Super Eagles’ list for the games against Argentina and Ethiopia in June generated a lot of furore Thursday with former Green Eagles’ prolific left-winger, Felix Owolabi advising the team’s head coach, Samson Siasia to always behave like father to his players in order to achieve his goal in building a stronger team for the country.

“Nobody is indispensable, Nigeria is bigger and greater than everybody but then we must also have to appreciate our talents and potentials. The man is in charge of the team, he is trying to build up a team, a disciplined team which Nigerian are expecting.

But then on the other hand , as a leader, there are a lot of things you have to stomach. Now, if you want to ask me who is a good administrator, I’ll say a good administrator is that person who is to face challenges, a good administrator is not an administrator who ordinarily, when things are going up

and down he does not takes any dick and harry before him. Now it is good that this kind of thing is happening, so for me Siasia should not blow the thing out of proportion. He has been able to identify the character of Osaze, he has been able to know who Osaze as a player is, with this kind of exposure it will help build an individual character, behaviour, discipline and otherwise in the course of having a standard team and stronger team for Nigeria.

All I am saying is that, every individual player has an individual character , the man should be able to stomach a lot of things, but does not mean that he should condone indiscipline. All I know is that Siasia should always move closer to players and be able to identify who they are as individuals and as a team.

The press also should not blow things out of proportion, it is because the press too went too far on the issue, that is why things are like that. “But if I’m Siasia, I will behave like a father, he should play a fatherly role now, always relate to the players.

The boy is a potential, we need him, Siasia also needs the player. At the initial stage, Nigerians were crying we need Siasia, if we need Siasia we must always give Siasia a positive advice that he can get to the promised land and make us happy. Instead we will be saying different things, sincerely, doing that the man might not get us what we do not want.

So all I am saying is that, Siasia should be closer to the players more than anybody else, because the whole work lies on him .

I want to say that it does not necessary mean Siasia must use Osaze at all cost, it is only a friendly match, beside that the English league has one match to go and the boy has been doing tremendously well. As far as the friendly match is concerned Siasia has the right to use any player, because his in a building process. So with or without Osaze, I do not think there is any big deal. After all, the match against Argentina, is not a do-or-die affair and we are not expecting too much.

If we lose, no problem, draw, we are in the making, if we win, it is a bonus for us,” Owoblow, as he is fondly called, said.
