Press Release: Posche Secrets provides free prosthetics for breast cancer survivors

Posche Secrets provides free prosthetics for breast cancer survivors

As part of activities to mark the 2018 World Cancer Day, Posche Secrets, a non-governmental organisation, has reiterated its commitment to supporting breast cancer survivors with free prosthesis.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women globally. While it appears to be more prevalent in developed countries, the incidence rates are also rising in developing countries where the situation is often worsened by late diagnosis.

After undergoing mastectomy and other surgical procedures to the breast, survivors are faced with the need for prosthetics which are often very expensive and uncomfortable.

Posche Secrets has set out to bridge this gap by giving out crotcheted knockers, special handmade prosthetics, which are comfortable, adjustable and easy to maintain.

Commenting on the development, the founder of the organisation described it as an effort to encourage breast cancer survivors and make it easier for them to feel better about their body.

“Beneficiaries have expressed delight at the comfort they experienced since they received our breast prosthetics,” she said.

“The crotcheted knockers are a lot more manageable than traditional prosthetics and we’re offering them free of charge as a token of love from our volunteers and supporters.”

The light weight and adjustable design of the knockers are a sharp contrast to the heaviness and discomfort associated with traditional breast prosthetics.

The knockers can be placed in a normal bra and do not require special care. They can be washed softly in a bowl of warm water and washing up liquid after which they are rinsed and left to dry.

Interested persons can make a request by filling out a form at bit.ly/psknockers or by reaching the organisation on phone call via 08021346050.
