Recent bombings in Nigeria politically motivated – Minister
Latest Politics, Ministries Tuesday, January 4th, 2011THE Federal Government on Monday, said the recent bomb blasts in Nigeria were politically-motivated and handiwork of detractors who wanted to bring down the present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
Minister of Interior, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho (rtd), who said this in Abuja, after inspecting the scene of the twin blasts that rocked the ever busy Mammy Market beside the Mogadishu Military Barracks along Nyanya Road, Abuja on New Year Eve.
He said the incident was politically- motivated, adding that the challenge before the government was the unwillingness of people to play by the rule.
The minister said: “Only God knows what these people wanted to do. But we are thankful to God that we didn’t have more dead people, wounded people than we had. Those who are responsible for this outrage, I can tell you that government is determined to fish them out.
“Nobody is going to stampede the government; nobody is going to blackmail the government. People are entitled to have political differences. But certainly, they are not entitled to try and interfere with other peoples’ lives by planting bombs, by threatening to kill and maim people.”
