Shocker: Serving Senator, Ali Ndume arrested as chief sponsor of Boko Haram

A serving Nigerian senator, Ali Ndume has been arrested following
confessions of a Boko Haram extremist currently in custody of the State
Security Services (SSS).
The Boko Haram suspect Ali Sanda Umar Konduga, confessed yesterday to
agents that a certain serving Senator, ex-governor and some politicians in
the North were sponsors of the radical Islamic sect.
However sources close to The Nation, one of the leading Nigerian Newspaper
said “security agents last night arrested Senator Ali Ndume (Borno), and may
likely face trial today in Abuja.”
“Based on the confession of some Boko Haram suspects in custody, we
have interrogated Ndume and he has made a statement accordingly. We are
going to charge him to court on Tuesday (today) with some of the suspects in
our custody.” the paper’s source stated
Ndume, a vocal northern politician, was formerly a minority leader of the
House of Representatives but dumped his party All Nigeria Peoples Party,
ANPP for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and won election to represent
Borno south senatorial seat during the last general elections.
Recall that Boko Haram claimed responsibility for various bombings in Abuja,
Borno and some parts of the north.
In August, the United Nations house in Abuja was bombed as scores lost
their lives and many sustained injuries. Also during the last sallah
celebration, over hundred people were killed in Yobe state in a bloody attack
orchestrated by the sect.
