Six European countries deport 29 Nigerians
Africa & World Politics, Headlines Friday, July 20th, 2018Six European countries on Thursday deported 29 Nigerians from their nations.
The all-male deportees were sent home from Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Germany, Norway and Lithuania.
The spokesperson for the Lagos Airport Police Command, DSP Joseph Alabi, confirmed the development.
According to him, they arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 7.35am aboard a chartered Titan Airways aircraft with Registration Number: G-POWD.
“This morning, we received 29 Nigerians who were brought back from Europe. They were all males. 28 of the deportees were alleged to have committed immigration-related offences while one of them was allegedly involved in a police case,” Alabi said.
Alabi said they were received by the Police; officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service; and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
Other agencies on the ground to receive them, he said, were officials the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
“The deportees were profiled by the immigration authorities and were allowed to depart to their various destinations,” he added.
