Suswam swears in commissioners, charges them on development
Benue, Headlines, State News Tuesday, July 19th, 2011THE Benue State govrnor, Dr Gabriel Suswam, has described the office of a commissioner as pivotal to effective goverance, even as he charged the newly sworn in commissioners in the state to be catalyst for meaningful development.
In his address on the occasion, Suswam said “I want to charge you to consider your appointment as a call to selfless service to the state and the nation at large.
You are expected to bring your vast experience in public service to bear in the discharge of your assigned duties.”
He charged them to eschew the pursuit of narrow, self serving and unethnical interest, telling them to be alert as they made the requisite choices to move the state forward.
According to him, the need to consolidate on the gains so far recorded in the state informed his decision to assemble a team of intelligent, talented, proactive, selfless and dedicated young men and women, to effectively drive the implementation of the policies and programmes of the administration.
The commissioners included Mr John Ngbede (Water Resources); Mr John Tondu (Lands and Survey); Mr Omadachi Oklobia (Finance); Dr Jacob Iba Aliegba (Agriculture); Dr (Mrs) E. A. Ugoh (Education; Comrade Wergba (Information) and Mr B.T. Asharer (Works and Transport).
Others were Mr Chive Kaare (Justice); Dr Orduen Abunku (Health); Mr Kwaghbula S.G.(Housing and Urban Development); Mr Anodowase Chia (Youths and Sports Development); Honourable Godwin Adah (Science and Technology); Mr Alex Adum (Commerce and Industry); Mrs Elizabeth Allagh (Women Affairs) and Mrs I. Ajene (Culture and Tourism).
