The silent murder of Nigerians in South Africans
Africa & World Politics, Latest Politics, National Politics, Top Stories Wednesday, June 11th, 2014The newly appointed caretaker committee chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Julius Takeme, has decried the incessant silent killings of Nigerians resident in South Africa.
This was just as he warned that if something urgent wasnot done to address the trend, a diplomatic rift might surface between the two countries.
Chief Takeme disclosed this during a condolence visit to the traditional ruler of Operemor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Captain Samuel Eva (retd), whose daughter was murdered in South Africa in controversial circumstances.
Takeme, who addressed the bereaved monarch and his colleagues in his palace at Ojobo, said, “Burutu has lost one of its finest female brains to hoodlums in South Africa. I didn’t know much about her, but from those who knew her very well, she was a brilliant, quiet and promising beautiful young star who was doing well in her studies, who would have made us proud tomorrow.”
According to Takeme, “there is a long chain of record of murder of Nigerians by South-Africans and other foreigners, including their police. Foreigners have been killing Nigerians in such unwarranted and unprovoked ways without any proper punishment to the assailants and this will soon create diplomatic rift between Nigeria and those nations, especially South Africa, if this is not checked by the authorities.”
