By George Oshogwe OgboluThe United States government has mandated all Nigerian visa applicants to provide details of their social media activity covering the last five years. Naija News reports that the directive was given in a post by the U.S. Mission in Nigeria on X. The Embassy stated that applicants are required to list all usernames or handles they have used on every social media platform within that period when filling out the DS-160 visa application form. According to the US Mission, applicants must certify the accuracy of their submissions before signing and submitting the form. It warned that failure to disclose social media information could result in visa denial and possible ineligibility for future applications. The post reads, “Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used from the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form. “Applicants certify that the information in their visa application is true and correct before they sign and submit. Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas.”
